American actor Ernest Borgnine who won an Academy for his portrayal in the 1955 film "Marty," passed away.
Among the notable roles Borgnine played were Sgt. Fatso Judson in "From Here to
Eternity" and the
con artist in the comedy series "McHale's Navy."
Borgnine also starred in films such as "Bad Day at Black Rock," "Jubal," "Flight of the Phoenix," "The Dirty Dozen,""The Wild Bunch," and "The Poseidon Adventure."
Born in Hamden, Connecticut in January 24th, 1917, Borgnine was also the voice behind the character Mermaid Man in children show "Spongebob Squarepants."
Borgnine passed away at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center with his family on his side. He was 95.

R.I.P. Ernie. He was great in the movie MARTY. Reminded me of a lot of the men I knew growing up.He was a real star of film,not like some of these actors of today.He will be missed.
