A Day In The Life....

One long ago day, during a typically comfortable California winters day, when I was 13 years old, I found my Mom crying in our living room. She was crumpled on the floor of our green shag carpet with her face gripped mercilessly in her hands. Her fingers were squeezed tightly together and she was wailing in a way I had never heard before.

After initial moments of shock at finding her in such obvious anguish I looked past her. My panic, and utter confusion forced me to try and search for something, anything that could make her posture such an image of grief. On our black-cased, wood tone television they were playing a series of images all of which featured a face well known to me.

I'd been born to the leader of a popular Beatles cover band in an asian country, and had been immersed in Beatles music since the womb. I'd grown to that tender age in full understanding that the man now on the television was my Mom's favorite from that band.

John Lennon has been an inspiration to the multitudes. One who has managed to continue seeding his belief in man's ability to acheive peace to many succeeding generations. If not for that horrible day, John would be 70 years old today.

In honor of that incredible milestone, and of the eloquent, and passionate message his legacy has continued to convey, I'd like to give John Lennon a very heartfelt thank you for all he's given the world, and wish him a peaceful Happy Birthday.
