Todd was a bit sheepish coming onto stage, I imagine in part due to his horrendous head cold but he seemed to warm to us, especially as the first question asked was one of John's planted trick questions. His response was gold "I've read on the internet that you collect porcelain animals. I was just wondering what your favourite was and how we may be able to send them to you?" to which his response was "You guys must get a different internet down here. I'm not sure what you're talking about…ummmm"
He talked about being floored at being asked to play at Anna & Steven's wedding with his band 'Pilbilly Knights' and his favourite scene was in season 2 where he was leading the saucer eyed army to get Sam in appease MaryAnne. He like seeing Terry be strong for a change. His fave line also came from the sequence ‘Bullshi*! God has horns’ (cue audience laughter - it's weird seeing him do it in real life)
The second trick question "I've read on the internet that you were born in Texas and used to be a rodeo clown. What is that exactly?" was once again met with "Where are you guys reading these things???????" and more stifled laughter from the crowd.
When he was asked about the o.r.g.y. (yes, he spelt it out!! lol) he said it was really, really cold filming the outdoor scenes and they had to put ice in their mouths so they didn’t breath hot air and give away that it’s cold as they are meant to be in Louisiana not LA (they were filmed in a canyon near LA) and it was slightly embarrassing that all he had was the ‘sock’ on. The black contacts were hard to wear and kept getting really dusty. There was 1 guy who had to keep lubricating everyone’s eyes for 15+hrs every day (what a sucky job!!) He did also mention that the extras for the o.r.g.y. scenes were mostly couples in real life so they were very comfortable with the 'goings on'.
The third planted question was "I've read on the Internet that you and the actress that plays Jane Boadhouse are having an affair and is it true that you hooked up on set like Bill & Sookie?"…"ummm yes…if our respective partners don't mind….yes???" and more laughter.
He said that Carrie Preston (Arlene) is really nice and he's not sure who they are going to get to play her kids now as the original kids are grown up and its only been a few months in Bon Temp time. He's super keen to see what happens with the baby and would love for Terry to step up and take control. He hopes they’ll have Terry be a house-dad and assumes that Arlene will distance herself seeing as it’s Rene’s child.
He said whilst he'd never want to go a war zone, he was glad that he’s playing someone ‘real’ in that respect.
The final planted question was "There may have been some questions planted in the audience today. If there was someone on this tour who would have done that, who do you think it would be?"…"BILLINGSLEY!!"
Most of us had seen the pic that was posted of Todd when he was meting the koalas (he has a terrified look on his face, apparently due to the Chlamydia - see John's section) and he said he was really surprised when they took him into the city to see them as he assumed they'd be out in the country, but there is a major wildlife park on Darling Harbour.
There were a few Gilmore Girls related questions (and fangirls such as myself) and he’d love to do a GG movie, but doesn’t think Lauren or Alexis would be keen as it’s very hard work for them (average scrip for True Blood is 80 pages, average script for Gilmore Girls 120 pages and most of the dialog was theirs and there was average 3 days less to shoot an episode!!) and he’s still good friends with Sebastian Bach and loves having a 'rock god' as a mate.
Kristin came in, all blonde and tall and very much like we imagined. As was bound to come up, she was asked about working with Alex and, funnily enough, she loves working with Alex (Eric Northman). She says he’s very funny and she hopes he gets to do a comedy soon...who knew!!?
She’s passionate about animals and the 'Amanda Foundation' will benefit from the auction. Follow Kristin on twitter to find out about all of the worthwhile causes she supports (@bauervanstraten)
Kristin revealed that she’s a big fan of the show and loves tuning in to see what all the other characters are up to and noticing things that the editing process pick up like certain angles they use and takes they end up putting in the show, including the torture scene in season 3 with Alex – apparently you can see them giggling in the background.
The fashion she gets to wear as Pam is great, in it’s own special way. Her fave, kind of, was the red sequin jumpsuit. As Sam was in Fangtasia for the first time ever, she said that there were a few funny moments where Sam was giving her the 'what on earth are you wearing?' look and trying to keep a straight face.
Someone asked her about wearing the fangs and she told us about hearing from another cast member that they were really hard to talk in and if she could practice so she tried to get her fangs from the makeup department but couldn’t until the first shoot. She was given the teeth for the test shots and then they were taken back and she didn’t get to wear them again until they were shooting for real. So she was trying to act all 'Pammish' and ended up with a huge lisp to begin with (cue hysterics from the crowd) similarly, she had to learn certain lines in Swedish and Russian, but getting help from Alex was both good and hard. She'd have him record it and then she'd put it on her iPod and practice it over and over. Just when she thought she had it, he'd say no, and tell her to change the most subtle inflections that were almost non existent to those who don't know and understand the language and when she asked if she sounded OK speaking Russian, she was told she sounded like a prostitute.
When asked if it's frustrating when your better scenes / takes are edited out she said 'absolutely' it can be very difficult to watch the finished show knowing the other lines etc that were shot.
Whilst they were all waiting in the 'green room' John asked Kristin what series of Star Trek she was in and they both discovered they were in Enterprise. They discussed which characters they had played and realised that they had been in a scene together and that actually interacted on the show as well.
As mentioned, Kristin is a big fan of the show and she talked about the detail the set dressers go to to make sure everything is perfect eg – in season 1 where Bill stakes Longshadow they called for more sinew to make things look more believable. This scene was also her fave scene so far.
When asked if she could have anyone on the show, who would it be, she answered Viggo Mortensen (and then added," my husband is asleep at the hotel, so I can say that!!")
As a charity item, Kristin has done a sketch of Alex and whilst the original copy has gone to a very lucky home, 100 hand signed prints have been made available at http://auctions.truebloodnet.com/High-Quality-Limited-Edition-Prints-Signed-by-Kristin-Bauer-van-Straten-of-Alexander-Skarsgard-to-Benefit-The-Amanda-Foundation,name,100018,auction_id,auction_details
