Artists On Demand has Lindsey Grant, the Program Director for NaNoWriMo coming on the show on the 28th. NaNoWriMo is National Novel Writing Month. This is an organization that promotes writing, basically. The challenge is done every year! Last year, over 165,000 people participated. Here is what you do...
You sign up. On November 1st, 2010 you start writing. You can forget about editing, punctuation, etc... and just write. If you can write a 50,000 word, 175 page story by midnight on November 30th then you will be put into their annual winners list! What do you get otherwise... the satisfaction that you entered and succeeded at doing something that not many can. Out of the 165,000 that did it last year, only 30,000 or so completed it.
With that being said... we encourage everyone... That means YOU... to go to NaNoWriMo.org and sign up. Then on November 1st, start writing. Whatever you want to write about... do it! Write about lust, love, anger, joy, yourself, your mom, whatever! Just write! It's a good excercise! And... if you are anything like some of us ... ahem Kristin... a complete control freak... it allows you to step away from that control and just let yourself be!
