Stephen King's Dark Tower Series to be brought to both the big and small screens?

In an unprecedented attempt to bring the mammoth story of Roland Deschain and his ka-tet (who join him over the course of his adventure) to life, Universal Pictures and NBC Universal Television Entertainment will use a multi-platform method to tell King's most expansive tale. The series will begin with a full length feature film, which will be followed by a tv series. The television series will tie it in to the second and third planned films. Both the initial film and the first season of the television series will be directed by Ron Howard, produced by his Imagine Films partner Brian Grazer, with Akiva Goldsman and Mr. King himself will team to helm the adaptation.

Reports state that the actors cast will remain the same for both film and tv.

After the 7-book novel series "The Dark Tower" was completed, a prequel set of comic books were released. Both forms of resource material will be drawn upon for the adaptation.

Another series of books this member of AOD staff will have to add to her "re-read" list...
