Piers Takes Over for Larry

As many of you are aware, Larry King is retiring from CNN after an astonishing 25 years of hosting "Larry King Live." There has been plenty of speculation about who would take over the prime-time spot at 9pm weekdays; and the announcement was made today that it would be Piers Morgan who would replace King.

American viewers are familiar with Morgan from his judging duties on "America's Got Talent;" but viewers overseas know him from his ITV show "Life Stories," which he will host in conjunction with his new CNN show. An internal memo sent by CNN President Jonathan Klein states, “We are delighted that he will now bring his dynamic, probing interview style to American television and to CNN viewers around the globe.”

King's last official air date will be December 16; however, he will still return as host for the occasional special.
