Paul McCartney gets Kennedy Center Honour

Music legend, Paul McCartney, will be one of many to receive the 33rd Annual Kennedy Center Honour at the White House in December. McCartney will be joined by the likes of Oprah Winfrey, Bill T Jones, Jerry Herman, and Merle Haggard who will also be getting awards.

The Kennedy Center for performing arts honors artistic figures in history that have contributed to U.S. Culture. Kennedy Center chairman David M Rubenstein said that McCartney is "one of the most influential and successful songwriters and musicians of all time whose work has continuously altered both the creation and perception of music all over the world".

All the recipients will receive their awards at a dinner hosted by Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, before joining President Barack Obama the following evening at the White House.
