Freddy's baaaaack! That's right ladies and gents... Freddy has returned again on the big screen to make you... well... scream. And let me tell you... it kind of worked. This movie is very startling more than scary. Your mouth hangs open a lot from shock of how people die. So lets kick this off. If you don't want to know about it... don't read this...
SPOILER ALERT!SPOILER ALERT!SPOILER ALERT!SPOILER ALERT!SPOILER ALERT!SPOILER ALERT!SPOILER ALERT!SPOILER ALERT!SPOILER ALERT!SPOILER ALERT!SPOILER ALERT!SPOILER ALERT!SPOILER ALERT!SPOILER ALERT!SPOILER ALERT!SPOILER ALERT!
Alright... So Kellan Lutz. What a great way to start a movie. Beautiful handsome... and may I add curly haired Kellan starts out the movie in a diner. But the happy, shiney, and usually well shaved Kellan was looking a little rough around the edges. Dark circles under his eyes and a little crazy sounding. Apparently Freddy had been tormenting him for a few days and he was starting to struggle to stay awake. Enters Katie Cassidy... aka Trish Wellington from Harper's Island... aka... Ella Sims on Melrose Place. She steps away to clean herself up and Kellan's character, Dean, gets killed... err... offs himself? Whichever way you want to put it.
Jumping forward... the story twists and turns as you get flashes and scared shitless by Freddy appearing and startling the hell out of you. Best murder scene goes to Katie Cassidy's character Kris. Very cool bedroom murder while ex-lover stands by and watches it happen. AWESOME! Freddy's voice was a little scary... but I have to say you could easily tell it was a voice over and not the original person talking. It was always much louder than any other sound in the movie. Was it suppose to be like that?
A little confused for a while... I thought that Freddy was actually innocent in this version and was wrongly accused... and murdered... but turns out he really was a dirty little pervert. Speaking of pervert... lines like "How's that for a wet dream." and "Fuck you.. oh that sounds fun." had me raising eyebrows at the sexual undertones.
In the end, the typical scary movie... leaves it open for more. Typical. But it was good. I recommend at least seeing it. I feel it is going to be one of those remakes that you either love... or absolutely hate. Tell us!
